Arizona Broadway Theatre is looking for full-time scenic carpenters who will construct, erect, install and repair theatrical structures for assigned shows using a variety of carpentry hand and power tools
Job Title: Carpenter-Theatre
Reporting Relationship: Technical Director
Job Classification: Full Time + full benefits (health, vision,dental, generous PTO, life insurance, retirement)
Typical Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm. Occasionalweekend calls, depending on need. Occasional nights for production strike andload-in periods. There is the possibility for overtime with this position.
Hourly Rate: $19/hr
General Functions: Arizona Broadway Theatre is looking forfull-time scenic carpenters who will construct, erect, install and repairtheatrical structures for assigned shows using a variety of carpentry hand andpower tools
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Studies blueprints, sketches or building plans to determinematerials required and dimensions of structure to be fabricated.
•Builds, erects and installs all scenic components using a varietyof carpentry hand and power tools. Uses hand tools and wood screws, nails,dowel pins or glue to make framework or props.
•Performs repairs to scenery as directed.
•Performs millwork, cabinetry and finish carpentry by setting upand operating power tools and machinery to size, plane, joint and mold lumberto desired dimensions. Cuts bevel, bead, or molding patterns. Cuts and installscustom moldings and trim.
•Performs welding on stage props and scenery.
•Assist with load-in of scenic elements including rigging andoverhead scenery.
•Assist with strike of scenic elements.
•Assure all scenery structures are of highest construction andsafe.
Minimum Requirements:
•High School Diploma or GED; Additional training in TechnicalTheatre or trades is desirable.
•Three years carpentry experience; Theatrical carpentry experienceis preferred but not required.
•Welding experience preferred but not required. Skill can betaught on the job.
